Ballineetig / Baile an Fhaoitigh Standing Stone WOW! What an absolute monster of a stone. This hugely impressive stone stands 4.20 metres tall and almost 2 metres wide. This national monument is known locally as Gallaunmore/Gallán Mór and is situated in a private garden just off the N86. The size and shape of this stone makes it quite distinct from other stones on the peninsula. Funnily enough it's not the tallest stone on the peninsula, that honour goes to the Lateevemanagh standing stone situated just 12 kilometres west of Ballineetig. Because of a few marks on one of the edges, it has been falsely suggested it may be an ogham stone.
