Ballyheabought / Baile Uí Shé Ringfort and Clochan Heading north from Dingle to Reenconnell, on our way to visit the high cross, I spotted this ringfort on the lower slopes of Ballysitteragh mountain. It was originally a bivallate rath but the outer fosse and bank are either filled in or levelled. On a large part of the inner bank you can still see the excellent drystone masonry, this inner revetment is almost two metres high in places, see bottom image. Inside the ringfort are the remains of a large circular clochaun. The corbelled drystone wall of the clochaun is also about two metres in height. Like the ringfort, there is a entrance in the west side. There are the scant remains of a second clochaun within the ringfort. It is believed a souterrain may be concealed within the ringfort.
