Banagher Megalithic Complex Stone Circle (SE) This part of the megalithic complex at Banagher can be quite confusing, there is a badly disturbed passage tomb at the centre of the circle, with it's remaining kerbstones forming circle around it, another set of stones surrounding the kerb of the tomb is the large bronze age stone circle. Only twelve of the original stones survive, seven of these stones are lying prostrate, the tallest of the five upright stones stands only 1.3 metres high. In the image below, the stone at the extreme left and the one at the far right are part of the circle, those at the top are from a chamber of the passage tomb, plus a trigonometry point. The stones in the middle ground are not part of the monument.

Situated: From Cavan head south on the R212. Keep right onto the R935. Then turn left for Ballyjamesduff. At the roudabout take the 3rd exit. Stay on the L2502 for about 4 kilometres. Then take a left turn, the complex is about 900 metres down here on private farmland, on your right handside. Discovery Map 35: N 4667 9972. Last visit. Sept 2022 Longitude: 7° 17' 23.5" W.
