Hurlstone

The holed stone, pictured left after which the townland gets its name, is probably all that remains of an entrance to a chambered tomb. The stone is much larger than it looks on this picture, standing at over 1.5 metres high and even more in width. I will return for some better images, when the crops are not as high.

Situated: From Slane take the N2 North six kilometres after Collon take a left on to the R165 for Kells, then take the second left, the stone can be seen in a field to your left about 400 yards down this road.

Discovery Map 36: H 943 876. Last visit April 2004.
