Killeevan Glebe

Standing Stone

The Drumlin Belt is a series of low fertile hills formed by glacial movement. It stretches along the border counties from County Down through Armagh, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. The Killeevan Glebe standing stone, unsuprisingly, sits on top of one of these hills. It is one of only nine surviving standing stones in County Monaghan. This rugged looking, schist stone stands 1.9 metres tall and offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. It can be seen from the roadway, behind an outbuilding, about 80 metres east of the old Killeevan Glebe graveyard.

Situated: From Killeevan Glebe old graveyard head east, the standing stone is in the field behind the first building on your left, about eighty metres down this road.
