Linkardstown burial

Situated in the Phoenix Park, Dublin is a certain type of megalithic tomb known as a Linkardstown burial. The tomb is kidney shaped and has cracks along the surface of the top slab, it has obviously been restored at some stage and these repairs are now sadly coming apart. You can see some of the cracks in the slab middle picture on the right, you can also make out the addition of a concrete pillar supporting the top stone in the picture top left. It took me a while to find this tomb as the information plaque gives the impression that the tomb is in the opposite direction.

Situated: In Chapelizod Village there is a signpost marked "Cromlech" pointing to the Phoenix Park gate, go through this gate and follow the small path up the hill towards the house, cross the road with the information plaque, as you get to the house follow the fence/hedge around to the right until you come to this small but likeable tomb.
