Parknasillogue Chambered Grave The megalithic tomb at Parknasillogue is as yet unclassified. It could be a Kist or maybe a disturbed Wedge tomb, as there are a number of small boulders lying around the chamber. Presently the tomb is being over run with brambles and a fallen tree lies next to the tomb. What once appeared as a quite picturesque image in old photographs is now a a dreadful mess and sadly a poor reflection on the age we now live in. This site badly needs some attention sooner rather than later. |
Situated: From Enniskerry head west passing by Kilgarron cottages after 400 metres you will come to Kilgarron park on your left, a small housing estate with a few shops and a small car park. Park here and cross the main road heading towards a small metal gate. The farm track behind the gate takes you 250 metres up to the tomb situated in a field on your right. Discovery Map 56: O 214 176. Last Visited February 2008. Photos: Jim Dempsey |
