Strandhill Court Tomb We could just about see the stones sticking up above the long grass as we approached this tomb. There was an air of disappointment at first, but as I walked around the remains of the chamber more stones started to reveal themselves. I trampled the long grass down around the side stones of the chamber. They were huge. There is quite a bit of the gallery remaining, a visit in the winter months might reveal more. Another reason for the stones appearing small besides the long grass, is the fact that the tomb is lying in a slight hollow, which is unusual for any form of megalithic tomb. Worth a visit if you are in the area |

Situated: Very easy. From Sligo take the R292 west towards Strandhill (approx 7 kilometres). In Strandhill take a right turn for Sligo Airport. Drive down this road for about 500 metres, just after a slight bend in the road you should see the tomb in a clearing on your right.
