Portal Tomb

What an amazing portal tomb ! The overall height of this impressive dolmen is some 3 1/2 metres. The Portal stones stand at around 2.8 metres high and form a porch with the doorstone, which reaches almost to the same height. This huge megalith has two enormous capstones similar to other tombs in the South of Ireland. At present it is part of a field wall. Sadly the northern field, which was once a cemetery is now quite overgrown. It is almost impossible to get a good view of the monument from this side, but don't let this put you off, this Portal tomb is well worth visiting. There are many other sites in the area including Gaulstown and Mathewstown. Please be careful, there is an electric fence in the field on the southern side of the megalith.

Situated: From Tramore take the R682 north at Clooneys crossroads tke a right after 2 kilometres go straight through another cross roads, you will come to a farm on your right, the dolmen is across the field on your left.
